Pleased you recovered. I know what you mean about a quick slap - I remember my mother telling me I should "reason" with my children not spank them, but when a hand is going towards something dangerous a quick slap gave the idea much quicker than saying "excuse me darling, but you really shouldn't do that, it's going to hurt you". I wouldn't mind, but that certainly wasn't her approach when I was little! I know some people take it to extremes, which is clearly wrong, but a short sharp shock can often make a more lasting impression than a little chat.
